Tag - Emerge

Once again I used 300gsm watercolour paper for my base tag and took the large circle and splatters image from the Visible Image Ink Splats stamp set to heat emboss with WOW embossing powder (silver).

With the image masked-off, I coloured the tag using Ranger Distress Ink (Peeled Paint) concentrating on the top LH corner and down the LHS. The crackle over-stamping was in Distress Ink (Hickory Smoke) using France’s Stampotique Crackle stamp (602.862.0237) and shaded using a light charcoal pencil and blender.

Next I coloured the circle, using a paint brush, Ranger Distress Ink (Peeled Paint) and a little water. Gradually building up the colour intensity until I was happy with the effect before stamping the moth image from Tim Holtz’s Entomology stamp set (Stampers Anonymous CMS328) into the middle.  The same image was stamped again but this time onto a spare scrap of watercolour paper, then coloured with a mix of DI Peeled Paint and iridescent H2O, fussy cut and ‘glazed’ with Glossy Accents on the wings.

Before gluing the moth into place on the tag, I randomly adhered Pebeo gilding leaves (silver mirror finish)  to the background, embossed circle and splats. The body of the moth was gently rounded and the wings lifted to give dimension.  It’s held in place on the tag with a touch of Glossy Accents to a couple of dimensional foam pads.

I chose EMERGE as the description for my tag.  The label was computer generated and backed with a tiny scrap of black card (Oops, sorry no picture of this!)

The final touches were to add co-ordinating ribbon and fibres from my stash, a date tag and  back the tag with black card.

I was really pleased how this tag came out.  Peeled Paint has always been a favourite 'go-to' colour of mine in the DI colour range and the Pebeo silver gilding leaves really lift the 'gritty' silver of the WOW embossing powder, pulling in the background to the embossed circle and drawing the eye to the moth. The iridescence of the pearl H2O gives a subtle lift to the wings of the moth too, and catches the light nicely under the Glossy Accent glaze.

Thanks so much for taking time out to read my post. Hope you liked it.

Have fun crafting.
